Who is coming out this week-end???
Depending on the turn out, we may be having more winter games.
Last week end I had 25 Airsoft players trying out the field. It was VERY COLD and WINDY, but we had a great time.
The play was was different then that of paintball in that you needed to be a little bit closer, but most tactics were the same, and it was fun.
( For those of you (like myself) who have never played be for, the BBs realy do not hurt, unless they hit on exposed skin. For the most part I had to listen for the hits to call myself out.)
Just remember - again there isn't rental equipment for the winter games do to cleaning issues, and you need to bring your own paint. (see the new web page on playing paintball in the cold.)
I will be there late, working til noon, hope to be there by noon-thirty. We made bottle covers from an old wet suit and Alex has winter camo to try out. I might attempt to make my own winter camo...I've got an old proven military top secret method I'm going to try.
Crazy- you'd better be caught up on your homework so you dont have to sit this one out.
Great guys.
Should be a good time with the snow.
I've given the parking lot a quick plow tonight, and will clean it up later in the week before the game.
Wal-Mart has the hand warmers for keeping the CO2 warm (as well as the paint) (see the cold weather tips on the web site)
They're only 2.00 for a three pack. I picked up the large body warmers.
Tomorrow is going to be great. There is even a chance it could reach 40..... a heat wave for this time of year.
I plan on playing all day.
We got some of those warmers too. We'll have enough to share a couple. Its going to be warm since we'll be moving a lot. Probobly have to strip down a bit to cool off inbetween games. Upper 30s and sun.
Hope to see y'all around 1pm. Kyle and Alex will be there at 10:30 or 11.
I thought it went very well. 20 or so folks came. The weather was nice. I missed the first game. The second game was over quick. The 3rd game was awesome!!! It lasted an hour. Each team (Grinches and Santa & helpers) had to find the presents and get them back before getting eliminated. We used all of Field 51. The Village turned into a war zone all while individual cammando teams tried to get to the other team's base to steal the presents.
The guys (and girl) in the woods and jungle sides found that if you are slow and quiet to can move quite far in the snow without being detected...even if you are very close to the enemy. Many people creeped and slithered thru the woods stealthfully. Quite a few times I personally was tracking people to get a good shot and lost them amoungst the white and brush only to find them a few minutes later way out of range.
The Santas had the presents twice only to get shot out to respawn. The Grinches made a last ditch effort to get Santa's presents SAS style (sneaking up covertly from a nontypical route) and made it just few feet from the presents when game time ran out.
For me that was the best game I had ever played. It was weird how camoflage works so differently in the snow. And weird how the snow conceals movement. I was at full alert during the whole game. I'd love to do another winter game again. I'd do things a bit differently. Definately organize specific squads within the team because you can make things happen that dont normally happen during the warmer months.
The final game was a Church game. We all started to run out of paint and air, funny. It was interesting. The Grinches out lasted the Santa's Helpers by surrounding the church and slowly picking off the defenders. They had to call it due to darkness.
What a blast, you missed a good one.
